Also, I love Hawaiian culture, food and nature, but not interested in the Waikiki city stuff. There's so much to do, I can't decide! Planning to go to the Polynesian Cultural Center, Waimea Valley, shave ice at Matsumotos, snorkeling every day, the swap meet, and kayaking. What else should I be sure to do? Thanks!
P.S. One more: swimming with dolphins--where do they have that, and is it awesome, or do you feel bad for the dolphins?Best hotel or condos on Oahu to be able to walk to the beach for snorkeling?
There about 8 hotels %26amp; condo's on Kaimana beach that are all great %26amp; you can snor kel on thet beach from the zoo, up to Daimond Head Beach, that is a 10 mile shoreline. The only name I know is Colony surf,(upscale) but there are 8 others, right on the beach, going South. The Waikiki Aquarium in on the beach, then the WWI Natatorium Memorial Swimming Pool (closed for renovations, but I would stay in 1 of those condos. Download a map %26amp; call some travel agents, tell them what you want %26amp; if they can't help you, they will point you in the right direction. Those condos are at the South end of Waikiki past the zoo, across from Kapiolani Park %26amp; past the Big Waterfountain, at the beginning of Daimond Head Road. North East shore by :Crouching Lion'; has accomodations, on the beach w/ great diving %26amp; snorkeling, Google Crouching Liopn. Also Kaneohe Bay has Cabins on the bay w/ tons of sealife in the bay.Look up Kaneohe Bay (Accomodations) Aloha! see you in Hawaii.Best hotel or condos on Oahu to be able to walk to the beach for snorkeling?

Take a tour of the Iolani Palace, in downtown on King St. right next to the State Capital Building. Queen Emma Summer Palace up on the Pali Hwy., there is a free walking tour of Waikiki, somewhat educational.

The dolphins love the interaction w/ humans. They need constant mental stimulation, I saw them @ the Kahala Mandarin, right on the beach by the Waialae Country Club at the end of Diamond Head Road, at the end of Kahala.(the Beverly Hills of Oahu)

I think you best bet is to go up North...either stay at Turtle Bay Resort or if you want to do Condos.. go to VRBO.com and type in ';Turtle Bay'; and rent one of the condos.. that way you can snorkel right off the resort...You will be close to Polynesian Cultural Center and VERY close to Waimea Valley and falls.. and of course Haleiwa to get your shaved ice. The prices for the condos are GREAT I understand and you can use all the amenties of the resort.. hope this helps.. Aloha!!
Polynesian Cultural Center, Waimea Valley, shave ice at Matsumotos, snorkeling every day are all done at the North Shore.
I would recommend Turtle Bay Resorts. It's isolated and really shows the ';true'; Hawaii.
I would consult craigslist.org for potential vacation home offerings and there are other websites that permit homeswapping, if you are interested. I think your best bet is finding a home to rent near the water-- maybe a travel agency can help too? Good luck and enjoy!
I think you should learn to surf-- it is amazing and Hawaii is one of the best places to learn! (I did last year!)
