What exactly is the difference between a 2 star hotel and a 4 star hotel?

Im supposed to live in a 2 star hotel next week for my orchestra trip, and ive heard rumors that they are dead bugs on the couches. What exactly is the significant difference between a 4 star hotel and a 2 star hotel? What exactly is the difference between a 2 star hotel and a 4 star hotel?
Your best bet would be split the difference and chose 3 Star. Its absolutely the amenities that are offered. 4 Star may have Valet parking, and 24 hour room service, etc. 2 Star would have very limited amenities, maybe no fitness center or business center. Cleanliness shouldn't be an issue, both should be clean, and well maintained. What exactly is the difference between a 2 star hotel and a 4 star hotel?
It depends where in the world you are staying. But for the most part, there is quite a difference between the 2 and 4 star hotels. I dont think dead bugs will be a real issue at a 2 star, but service may not be so good. Good luck!
the difference is the amount of roaches.....ahahaha...you get less in a 4 star....no but really i think price and amenities.
and u live in south austin i persume or watever i houston im guessing and im right *****.

bugs psh.

4 star look it up instead of watting hours and **** but u could be looking it up know hu.

4 star i would guess nicer looking better service
The rating refers to the amount of amenities that are offered. I have been to many boutique hotels that have amazing service, some just dont have pools or restaurants or room service ...But they were well furnished and very well kept with excellent friendly service. So basically if you need bells and wistles then you should find importance in the star rating system. other wise just do a little research about the place you are traveling to and find a nice place in a good location and save the money for impotant vacation stuff
Pretty much what services and ';little extras';.

I stayed in a tiny 2 star place in Paris...but it had a tv (all in french!), tiny bathroom and breakfast...it was reasonalby central and I after I got over the shock of the room size I was fine.

I have stayed in 4 star places too, where you get nice breakfasts, things like sewing kits, moisturisers packs as well as the usual shampoo/condition/soaps you get at cheaper places. Rooms are usally bigger and stuff is a bit nicer.

I don't tihnk anyplace should have dead cockroachs..if there are go and tell managment!! They should be clean at least.
