What hotel in the Dominican Republic is walking distance from a town and not too far from an airport?

I am not too interested in staying in an all-inclusive hotel, I would rather be able to stay in an affordable, nice hotel but still be able to experience the culture and people. Any help is appreciated. Also, is there any advantage to using a travel agency? I would much rather do it myself but I am just worried about legit transportation to and from the hotel and to neighboring towns. What hotel in the Dominican Republic is walking distance from a town and not too far from an airport?
I would check out :natura cabana

This is a nice Inn, that will give you some great luxuries, but still allow you're vacation to be simple, and you'll be able to experience culture. It's located right in between the towns of Sosua and Cabarete (about 8 minutes to each), and it's about 15 minutes from the airport in Puerto Plata.

I personally like Cabarete, I live in the area, and it's really laid back. I think Sosua attracts more older people, and men. Although their beach is nice.

That's why I recommend this hotel, it's close to both towns so you'll be able to explore a bit more, it offers a great beach, and they are also able to plan excursions for you. What hotel in the Dominican Republic is walking distance from a town and not too far from an airport?
The ';Quality Hotel Santo Domingo'; a hotel near Las Americas International Airport.

A full-service hotel, conveniently located just five minutes from Las Americas International Airport and 25 minutes from the center of the Dominican Republic capital, Santo Domingo. This Santo Domingo hotel provides easy access to many local points of interest and businesses including the adjacent Las Americas Free Zone, and the nearby Free Zone of San Isidro and Santo Domingo Cybernetic Park.

The hotel is just 15 minutes from the colorful beach town of Boca Chica, where visitors can enjoy a relaxing day at the beach and check out the wide variety of shops, restaurants and bars.

Guests can enjoy a free American breakfast buffet at the hotel's on-site Los Balcones restaurant, which also serves lunch and dinner. The hotel bar and lounge, Arrecife, is the perfect place to relax, unwind and enjoy delicious snacks and tropical cocktails in a convivial atmosphere.
