I'm planning to visit Amsterdam, Netherlands next week. I would like to know whether the Marriot Hotel (located between Leidseplein and Vondelpark) or the Renaissance Hotel (located between Central Station and Dam Square) would be more convenient given the winter weather.
Which hotel location is better for tourist to see the major attractions in the wintertime? Any other travel tips for exploring Amsterdam in December? Thank you.Which hotel location is more convenient for sight seeing in Amsterdam?
The Renaissance Hotel is much more Central for visiting Amsterdam. Of course, not all tourist attractions are now closer, but in general I'd say this one is located 'easier'. But nonetheless, going to the tourist attractions from the Marriott is a bit longer walk, but it's definately not too long.
But if you come by car, and this hotel has no own parking lot, maybe you should reconsider the Marriott Hotel.Which hotel location is more convenient for sight seeing in Amsterdam?
The Renaissance by all means. The location is beautiful and close to stuff that's historic, and entertainment - the red light district, the hard rock, lots of tours n stuff.
This depends on what you want to do and see. If your primary focus is on the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum, then the Mariott is better. However, the Renaissance is better if you're planning on using the trains to visit other towns and is more centrally located for many of the attractions. Personally, I prefer staying in the area between Dam Square and the station. In reality, Amsterdam is walkable and you can get by fine from either; there is also good public transportation.
